Review of Recent Regulatory Rules Impacting Anesthesiology

The American Society of Anesthesiologists will host a webinar to inform participants on new regulatory issues of relevance to anesthesiology.  Topics will include issues raised in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) CY 2011 Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule and CMS final rule on health information technology (HIT) and "meaningful use."

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss issues applicable to anesthesia practices presented in the new CMS rules, including PQRI, Medicare Economic Index (MEI) rebasing, claims reprocessing as a result of SGR fix, timely filing deadlines, anesthesia conversion factor, etc.
  • Discuss applicability of meaningful use requirements to Anesthesia Information Management Systems (AIMS)
  • Identify ASA strategy to address appropriate issues with CMS and other government agencies
  • Provide general information on the regulatory process and its importance as health care reform legislation is implemented
